Thinning

2009 Got off to a good start.  However, many things got in my way of continuing the program during the summer months.  Two LDS (Mormon) lads on their mission stopped by our booth at the BF Festival and volunteered to help.  This prompted a spur-of-the-moment effort in August that nearly finished the area bounded by Milam Rd. and the trails (see map below).  I will try to get more active in October following MPB flight and contact past volunteers.

2009 SEASON SUMMARY

Month Members Hrs Non-members Hrs Total Hrs
March 1 20.5 0 0.0 20.5
August 3 14.5 2 6.0 20.5
October

Below are thumbnails of a portion of that trail taken before and after thinning was accomplished.  Click on a thumbnail to see the picture in detail.  If you have dial-up internet (14.4 k modem), each photo will take a couple of minutes to download.

Before After

The map shows the status of thinning in the BFRP as of August 19, 2009.  There is probably another 10 to 20 hours of work to finish the area along Milam Rd. shown as a big yellow blob.

Green indicates work completed, yellow shows work in progress, and red shows where we will be working next.
